1970 MUSTANG BOSS 302 WITH DRAG PACK

I have been in the exotic and classic car business for over 30 years. To say that I have owned a great number of very rare cars is a huge understatement. When I run across one of those very special and rare cars it makes me want to put it in my private collection. This particular Boss is one of those special cars.

The Boss 302’s were made with the purpose of winning the Trans- Am championship for Ford. There were not many made in the total scheme of production as far as a Ford production car. I believe that the W code factory drag pack cars are by far the RAREST of all Boss 302’s made. According to Ford records(Marti Auto Works) there were only 62 made that had the W code rear-end (430 gear) with traction-Lok and the 4-speed wide ratio gear box. To say that this car is fast is a major understatement.

Besides the fact of only 62 made with the W code like this one, it is a car that came from the factory loaded to the gills with options. Most Mach Ones or Bosses did not come with the equipment that you see on them NOW. Over the years people have added window slats, chrome magnum wheels, and the highly desirable shaker hood. This car came originally from the factory with these items. We have the documentation to prove it. Ford made this car with these options; Rear deck spoiler, 4-speed wide-ratio transmission. Most Bosses’ came standard with close ratio boxes. The advantage of the wide ratio Boss transmission is that the first gear it is set up for faster acceleration from a dead stop. Other options include locking differential with optional axle ratio, Shaker Hood Scoop, sport slates, am radio, Magnum 500 chrome wheels, and tachometer.

Most cars of this age do not have documentation with them. This Boss has UNBELIEVABLE documentation regarding the ownership history and also the mileage. I see most cars advertised with a certain number of miles. Most people are looking at the speedo and saying that number is the actual mileage. They do not have a clue if that is the correct and factual mileage. I have extensive documentation from the second owner of this car regarding the mileage which is only 70,000 ORIGINAL miles. He also states in a letter that in 1985 a “friend” who owned a body shop talked him into painting the car. When they started sanding the car down the owner then realized that the original paint was in really great shape. Unfortunately, at that point it was too late.

· Statistical Marti Report (shows how many were made like this car)

· Ford Motor Company 99 Report from customer service at Ford

· Various pictures during the years documenting various items

· Eminger report ( the factory original invoice to the dealer)

· Factory Build Sheet (very rare)

This Boss is still equipped with its original smog pump plus it also has the original exhaust manifolds, correct style 780 Holley carb that was redone by Pony carbs, rev limiter and heat shield. As you can see by the pictures the trunk still has its space saver tire, jack and lug wrench.

Also, the LAST statistic that it said on the Marti Report was this was the ONLY Boss made like this ONE!!!!!!!!!! So it is a one of a kind!!!!
