1969 Olds 442 Convertible
Just like the GTO started out as an option package on the Tempest line; the 442 in 1964 started out as option with the Cutlass model. It was option number B- 09 on the Cutlass. This changed in 1968 for the 442 when it actually became a model of its own instead of just an option for the Cutlass. Most people do not know what the Numbers 442 mean. Here is what it meant in 1964 when you ordered the B- 09 package. IT MEANT 4- BARREL CARB; 4- SPEED AND (2) DUAL EXHAUST. Let me tell you these cars are very fast and in the 60’s and 70’s they were a car to be avoided at the stop light to stop light battles. This particular 442 was owned by a very prominent collector in town who actually drove it quite often compared to the rest of his large collection of cars. The history of this car as I know it is that it has lived in
Here is the serial number of the car and I will show you how to break it down and prove that it is a real 442 convertible.
