1968 Shelby GT 500 KR

As you can see by the pictures of this KR it is a very nice looking car. The paint is not perfect as it is an older paint job, but you would feel right at home at any car show or cruise night and would no doubt have more than your share of looker and lots of questions to answer from these admirers.

This particular KR as quite a few extra’s that a great number of KR’s do not have. The most expensive item is the air-conditioning. Although this KR did not come with A/C from Shelby, there is a good probability that the Louisiana dealer added it for the original owner since it was sold directly to that dealer from Shelby. Not having A/C in Louisiana is comparable to not having a heater in Michigan. Someone has also added a very nice and effective Cobra oil pan which is a great idea for any Big Block engine. The other highly desirable options included are an 8-track radio and those very nice 10 spoke Alloy wheels. It also has its proper Lucas driving lights which are very rare and expensive if you have to replace them.

The engine compartment, as you see for yourself, is very nicely detailed with proper nuts and bolts and the correct decals. Please note the correct spark plug wires and very nice looking Cobra Le Mans valve covers in honor of Ford winning Le Mans. The interior seats both front and rear, door panels, steering wheel, carpet, headliner and the plastic surrounding the rear seats plus the dash pad are all in very nice condition. It has the original Shelby roll bar with the correct shoulder harness and very nice correct lap belts.

The trunk has the proper mat, lug wrench, jack and hold down. It also has the correct card board pieces for the right and left side of the trunk and also the covers for the rear lights. The underside of this car is extremely solid and although not detailed is very presentable. But, the important thing is how good the frame rails and floors are.

This “King of the Road” drives extremely well and when you put is passing gear it does exactly what the “King of the Road” should do – GO REAL FAST!!
