1966 Raven Black K Code

The “K” code engine option made the Mustang a true Muscle Car.  Historically it made these early Mustangs the First Mustang Muscle Cars.  There were a number of notable items associated with these K code cars.  There were 3 special Indy Pace Cars for the 1964 race that had the famous K code motor and 9 inch rear end with special suspension etc.  These were the engines that were in the very historically significant 289 Cobras that dominated the streets, the race tracks and ultimately won the 1965 World GT Championship beating Ferrari.  These were also the same engines that were in the original Ford GT 40’s that won races like Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring and lots more.

When Ford wanted Shelby to enhance the image of the Mustangs; Shelby picked the K code Fastback to start with and then modified it to be a Race car for the street. He built 37 all out competition cars and dominated the Corvettes, Jaguars and many other significant sports in the Sports Car Club of America Road Racing Championship series in 1965,66 and 67  winning the National B Production Championship in each one of those years. For you drag racers these engines held many course records through out the United States.

Now let me tell you something about this special car.  First of all let me tell you the codes on the original door tag.  Everything matches but you can check this out for yourself.

Color A = Raven Black

Trim 66 = Black Luxury

DSO 65 – Oklahoma City

Axle E = 350 L/S

Trans 5 = 4-speed

I will not give out the serial number right now because I have had many of my cars end up on EBay in fraudulent auctions. Sorry the world has come to this.

THIS PARTICUALAR K CODE BEING BLACK ON BLACK WITH PONY INTERIOR AND GT PACKAGE IS AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING CAR.   IT IS HARD TO ARGUE THAT THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST DRAMATIC COLOR COMBINATION AND OPTIONED K CODE MADE.  WHEN YOU LOOK DOWN THE SIDES OF THE CAR THEY ARE RAZOR SHARP.   THIS CAR WAS PAINTED ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO AND SO THE PAINT IS NOT ABSOLUTELY PERFECT BUT WHEN YOU DRIVE THIS RARE K CODE TO AN EVENT IT IS THE TYPE OF MUSCLE CAR THAT MAKES EVERYONE STOP WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND LOOK AT IT.    WHEN YOU STOP THE CAR YOU ALWAYS WILL BE GREETED BY NUMEROUS COMPLIMENTS AND ENTHUSIASTIC CAR NUTS OF ALL KINDS.

BECAUSE OF THIS CAR BEING SO NICE AND HAVING SO MANY ORIGINAL AND CORRECT K CODE ITEMS INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL MOTOR I DECIDED THAT WE WERE GOING TO TAKE THIS RARE BEAUTY TO ANOTHER LEVEL.

I PROCEEDED TO SPENd OVER 2000 IN PARTS FOR MINOR ITEMS BECAUSE OF HOW NICE THE PAINT LOOKED AND HOW NICE THE BELIEVED TO BE  ORIGINAL INTERIOR WAS ON THE CAR. I THINK THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEMS WAS A NEW 3 CORE RADIATOR.   MOST OF THE ITEMS CONSISTED OF TRIM ITEMS LIKE INSTRUMENT BEZEL, GLOVE BOX, DOOR HANDLES INSIDE AND OUT ETC ETC.

I WILL INCLUDE A LIST OF ALL THE PARTS THAT I HAVE PUT ON THE CAAR AT THIS PRESENT TIME.   I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE SOME K CODES OUT THERE FOR LESS MONEY BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN AUTHENTICATED BY ME AND THEY PROBABLY DO NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL MOTORS AND THEY HAVE NOT HAD ALL THE TIME AND MONEY PUT INTO THEM LIKE THIS CAR.   I SEE MANY PEOPLE BUY CARS AT LESSER PRICES ONLY TO HAVE MORE MONEY IN THEM BY THE TIME THEY GET THEM TO THE WAY THIS CAR LOOKS AND DRIVES.

I AM INCLUDING A COPY OF THE TITLE OF THE CAR SO YOU CAN SEE IT IS A TWO OWNER CAR FROM NEW.   I AM SORRY THAT I HAVE HAD TO BLACK OUT ALL THAT I DID BUT THE WORLD IS A DIFFERENT PLACE NOW.   PLEASE NOTICE ON THE TITLE THE DATE THAT THE ORIGINAL OWNER REGISTERED THE CAR WHICH WAS 12/11/65.   THE DATE THAT IT WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE 2^ND OWNER WAS 7/5/89.   THERE ARE NOT MANY TWO OWNER K CODES OUT THERE ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION AND WITH THIS COLOR COMBINATION AND WITH ALL THE OPTIONS THIS CAR HAS.

BY THE WAY THE FLOORS ARE IN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL CONDITION AND I WILL GET PICS OF THE FLOORS AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHICH IS JUST ABOUT FINISHED.

IT WILL LOOK UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!
