Most T- Bird enthusiast
consider the ‘57 Bird as the best T- Bird of all time. It is of course the last
of the original design created to go head to head with the Corvette.
Ford put their best effort into creating
what they called at the time a personal luxury car that had the styling of a
flashy European Sports Car costing thousands of dollars more
As with most unusual and collectable cars,
it is the first series of cars that is the most valuable and also the last one
in that series that ultimately is the most desired. There were several minor
changes made to the ’57 Bird that made it unique and to most people more
pleasing to the eye and a much better car to drive.
The trunk room was enhanced with a slight re-designing which allowed for the
spare tire to be stowed in an upright position which added even more space in
the trunk. The lines of the car were enhanced by the addition of small tail fins
that actually began around the door handles on each side and gracefully carried
on to the tip of the fins.
The 57’s also had more powerful engines than either of the two preceding
years which of course made them much more fun to drive.
TO ME THE MOST DESIRABLE AND DRIVEABLE OF ALL THE 57 T-BIRDS IS THE
E–BIRD AND NOT THE SUPERCHARGED VERSION WHICH IS RARER THAN THE E-BIRD. It is
the Dual quad Set-up that makes the e-bird so DRIVEABLE. WHAT IS MORE EXCITING
THAN OPENING UP THE HOOD OF A 57 T-BIRD IN FRONT OF A FRIEND OR GROUP OF CAR
ENTHUSIAST AND THEy SEE THAT VERY COOL AND SPECIAL DUAL QUAD AIR CLEANER WITH
THE TWO LARGE POWER BULGES IN THE AIR CLEANER FOR THOSE 2 X 4’S.
I HAVE had EARLY FUEL INJECTED CARS AND EARLY SUPER CHARGED CARS AND
I WILL TAKE A CAR WITH A SET OF DUAL QUADS ANY DAY FOR RELIABILITY AND THE WOW
FACTOR. THERE WERE ONLY 1499 OF THESE E-BIRDS MADE AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY ARE
LEFT?
THIS RARE BEAUTY HAS RECENTLY HAD A BODY-OFF RESTORATION DONE TO IT
AND IT IS ALMOST AS NICE UNDER THE CAR AS IT IS ON TOP.
I WILL BE SHOWING YOU PICTURES OF THE UNDERSIDE
OF THE CAR SOON SO YOU CAN SEE HOW NICE IT IS ON THE UNDERSIDE ALSO. IT has ONLY
HAD AROUND 550 MILES ON IT SINCE THE BODY OFF RESTO SO OBVIOUSLY IT IS IN VERY
NICE CONDITION.
It is an absolutely
wonderful car to drive and look at as you can see from all the photos that I
have taken for you.
It is equipped with almost every option
that was available in 1957 and recently has had air conditioning added to make
it comfortable to drive on a hot day.
The optional equipment
Includes; hardtop, power steering and brakes, those
beautiful Kelsey Hayes real wire wheels with wide white radial tires, automatic
transmission, stereo cassette radio, 4 way power seats and power windows.
Recently it has had disc brakes added to the front for better stopping. All the
original brake pieces go with the car.
